2nd VP Elect-Susan Papatrefon

Susan began her career as a dispatcher. Throughout her 26-year career, she has served in several roles, including senior dispatcher, trainer, supervisor, civilian services supervisor overseeing records and communications, 9-1-1 systems administrator, and operations manager. Susan was selected to attend a Master’s program at the Naval Postgraduate School in 2021. She has also worked for over a decade as a contract employee with Motorola Solutions, working with emergency communications centers around the country in varying phases of their system implementation processes. Currently, Susan is serving as an Operations Manager in Tucson’s Public Safety Communication Department.

Susan’s goal is to pursue ways to earn Continuing Dispatch Education credits for chapter members. Several members throughout the state do not attend the events because staffing does not permit their absence from their centers. If we could offer ways for them to earn CDEs and engage with other chapter members, it would be a win/win. Susan would also like to explore the feasibility of planning events in areas that have historically had less involvement with in-person activities due to distances. She recognizes the events may not have a high attendance for the same reason in reverse. However, she believes it might encourage those agencies/members to attend at least one event if the effort is put forth to take events to them.
